How To Move Your Electronics Safely

If you’re moving to a new home in Colorado, one of the most important household items you’ll need to protect are your electronics. The last thing you want is for electronics like printers, computers, monitors and TVs to be damaged. The moving experts at Cowboy Moving & Storage put together this list of supplies and ideas for packing and moving your electronics safely.

Supplies For Moving Your Electronics

Ideally, use your original boxes to move electronic equipment. If you don’t have the original boxes, don’t worry. Use sturdy moving boxes as well as packing paper, packing tape, anti-static bubble wrap, cable or twist ties, labels and markers.

Let’s Get Started

1.   Backup your data to an external drive or cloud storage before moving.

2.   Take photos of how your cables are connected so it will be easy to recreate it when you get to your destination

3.   Organize and label your cables. Disconnect all of them and then use cable ties (or plastic baggies) to keep them organized

4.   Remove items like batteries, ink cartridges, remote controls and wireless keyboards from your devices. Place them in storage bags that are labeled

5.   Wrap each electronic device in anti-static bubble wrap, pack in appropriate boxes and secure with packing tape

6.   Use specially designed TV boxes for packing your sensitive electronics

7.   Avoid exposing your electronics to extreme heat or cold temperatures

8.   Make sure your insurance covers your devices during your move and if not, purchase insurance for that purpose

By following these simple steps, you’ll be able to move your electronics safely to your new home. If you don’t feel comfortable packing and moving your own electronics, the moving experts at Cowboy Moving & Storage would be happy to do it for you. Just call 303-789-2200.
